Glenndale Days 2012 Warbird Photo Review
Warbirds at Glenndale Airport, Kokomo, IN - September 22-23, 2012  (Photos Taken Sunday, September 23.)

  Glenndale Days is an annual event which is held each year to raise funds for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) and this was the first time I have had a chance to attend.  While there was not large group of warbirds flying or on display, Laura Stants was doing 20-25 minute turns in Nathan Davis's T-6, so it allowed me to get a variety of shots from different positions and lighting during the day.  An excellent destination for the warbird or aircraft photographer.

Laura Stants checks everything out in the cockpit of Nathan Davis's T-6 as she gets ready for a day of giving rides.  All proceeds from the flights and the food tent for the fight against Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).  This photo was taken at 11:45 AM and when I left after 5PM, Laura was still giving rides.  She never got out of the cockpit, even during the re-fueling.  There was a rider waiting for her each time she came back down.

The Fairchild PT-26 for the Indiana Wing of the CAF was giving rides also.

More T-6 than the telephoto lens could handle.  But that is ok as there is no 500 foot show line as at an airshow here so one can get up close and personal.

Talking about getting up close and personal!  This was the next landing sequence.  With Laura doing a landing every 20 minutes or so it allowed the photographers to move around and get shots from different prospectives.  Note the other two photographers on the road.

The runway was 18-36 so in the afternoon I moved around to the west side to get the sun behind me.  Here the PT-26 is over the corn on final.
